Congratulations to everyone who competed and particularly to our team mates who came out of the water ranking highly in the field of 2880 competitors.
Congratulations to Ian Smith who had an amazing meet at the 2011 Colonies Zone LCM Championship Meet hosted by the Middlebury Muffintops in Vermont over the St Jean Baptiste long weekend. In the 70-74 years age group, Ian set bot the World and National record for the men’s 50m freestyle with a time of 28.35 as well as National records for the 100m freestyle (1:06.27) and the 50m fly (32.94).
Way to go team! 3rd in the country at the Canadian Masters Swimming Championships! We were only 110 points out of second place, so it was a close race. Way to go team!

And finally, a last hurrah for photos of the weekend…
Our team’s success at Trois Rivières has made the local paper! You can see the article in the Westmount Examiner, complete with a team photo.
Hello swimmers!
Our team brought 21 swimmers to Montreal North for the meet today and everyone did really well! There were many best times, a handful of ‘first times’, season’s bests, but mostly lots of laughs, great racing experience, and many many points! So many points that Westmount Y Masters won the meet! Congratulations!! I’ve attached a photo of the plaque we received (and that I accepted on our behalf) from the CNMN meet director. We took a photo as well with them and it will be posted on our website.
Vitor also picked up a plaque for his win in the 25m free (18-34 yrs) in a blistering fast time of 11.XX seconds (Vitor, we have your plaque and hope your shoulder heals well).
I saw a few of our swimmers sporting the Ying Fa racing suit… Don’t forget to order your Ying Fa suits and try them out in a meet before provincials!
Congratulations to everyone! What a way to start the season and to finish the calendar year! Keep it up!

Hi all,
Here’s a quick run down for the remaining meets for the year:
Longueuil June 12 Long Course https://registration.swimming.ca/MeetInfo.aspx?meetid=9524
Repentigny June 19 Short Course https://registration.swimming.ca/MeetInfo.aspx?meetid=8198
Middlebury (US) June 25-27 Long Course http://www.middleburymuffintops.org/
There is no meet at Parc Jean-Drapeau planned this year.
Just to let you know the meet at Middlebury is the New England Masters Championship meet, is very good quality swimming (like our own Provincials) and this year boasts a swim clinic hosted by US legend Rowdy Gaines. The pool is in Vermont at (2.5hrs).
If you are planning to go to any of the meets listed please get back to me and I will list the meet packages on poolside – at Westmount and pass info onto the downtown Y.

Repentigny Juin 19 Short Course https://registration.swimming.ca/MeetInfo.aspx?meetid=8198
