Once again Carla is organizing the Maine Bike and Kayak Trip and you are invited!

The Southern Coast of Maine offers some of the prettiest bike routes on the Eastern Coast. It also offers miles of broad sandy beaches, rock-rimmed coves and headlands, weathered fishing shacks, quaint resort towns and ports, lighthouses and lobster.

If you are interested in a unique way to see Coastal Maine try kayaking in Casco Bay. Kayakers will wander amongst the many outer islands, beneath Civil War Forts, through protected passages, past seal covered ledges to island retreats.

For those who want to forego some of the activity there are always local events, summer theatre and of course the Outlets.

A brief synopsis of the weekend follows:

Thursday, June 23:

Ride #1: Local ride Cape-Able, Kennebunk Beach, Kennebunkport, Cape Porpoise, Goose Rocks, Biddeford Pool

Afternoon: Relaxation on the beach?

Saturday, June 25:

(Two Options)

1. Kayaking with Coastal Maine Kayak in Casco Bay. Tour led by a licensed Maine Guide. Kayaks, PFD’s, paddles provided. We will stop at one of the islands for lunch. (People interested in this option should contact Carla (link abaove) for booking information)

or

11. Ride #2: Different routes will be available

Also, this will be the evening for the group dinner. More information will follow.

Sunday, June 26:

Ride #3: (New Ride) College to Coast: A scenic ride that begins at Bowdoin College and crosses two Casco Bay islands to Land’s End.
For those who do not want to ride perhaps a visit to Bowdoin College Museum of Art and The Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum may be of interest.

Afternoon: (Local’s Tip): End your ride with lunch on the deck over the Androscoggin River at the Sea Dog Brewing Company. As good as the beer is, the food and location make this a worthwhile lunch spot.

If this is your day of departure try taking the route 26N home from here. If you are staying another day or two why not check out the shopping in Freeport – home of the massive retailer L.L. Bean.

Accommodation:

Once again we will be staying at Village By the Sea in Wells,
Maine. Please keep in mind that many of the two bedroom condominiums can accommodate up to 6 guests. One bedroom condo’s can accommodate up to 4 guests. (Sharing makes sense) Take a look at Village By the Sea! www.vbts.com

Two Bedroom Condo Top Floor $170.00/nite

Due to the volunteer nature of the Bike Trip it is up to all interested participants to make their own reservations.

Au nom du Westmount Y Masters Swim Team, j’aimerais remercier David Collier et sa conjointe, Chantal Corriveau, et leur charmante fille pour leur gentillesse et leur généreuse hospitalité vendredi dernier lors de notre soirée estivale. Malgré la température quelque peu inclémente, le party du Summer Swim Team a été cette année encore un véritable succès et tous ont profité de l’excellente nourriture, du vin abondant, et de l’opportunité de socialiser tout habillé!

Quelle belle façon de terminer l’année. Merci encore une fois David.

On behalf of the Westmount Y Masters Swim Team, I want to thank David Collier and his spouse, Chantal Corriveau as well as their lovely daughter for their kind and generous hospitality. Despite the inclement weather, the Summer Swim Team party was a great success and everyone enjoyed the amazing food, the abundant wine, and the opportunity to socialize with clothes on!

What a great way to finish off this year, thanks again David.

$8640! With the government matching individual donations, this brings the team donations to a GRAND TOTAL of $17,130.
