The team
The Westmount Y Centre Masters Swim Team is made up of adults who enjoy swimming and want to work on staying in shape and improving their swimming technique through regular practice sessions with qualified, experienced coaches. The Team has a board of directors and is a member of the Fédération de natation du Québec.
There are approximately 120 members of the team, many of whom compete with the team at local, provincial and even national events. A number of team members hold Provincial records in individual and relay events, and the team as a whole has had significant success in competitions over the years. The team has won the Quebec Provincial Championships in 2009 and 2010.
Team members swim hard at practices and competitions and play hard too! Throughout the year the team holds a number of fun social events that give the members opportunities to get to know each other better. Throughout the year there are pub gatherings, a pot luck holiday party, a fun meet with “silly” races, and a spring BBQ and awards celebration which acknowledges the accomplishments of its swimmers and coaches.
Many team members record their practice distances on the Masters Swim Canada’s Million Meter Challenge site and enjoy the satisfaction of seeing their numbers rise. Some have hit the Million Meter mark and others take satisfaction in achieving both personal and cap worthy achievements.
The team welcomes all swimmers at all levels; its members swim for fitness, fun and achievements.
